Andrew is a
versatile composer and arranger with a steadily growing
catalogue of work. Andrew’s works for the concert hall
range from a single instrument to large symphony
orchestra
and have been performed throughout
the UK and on the continent by ensembles and performers
including the Britten Sinfonia, Sarah Nichols, the
chapel choir of St. Catharine’s College Cambridge and
Kokoro (the contemporary music ensemble of the
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra). The latter of these
was a performance of Andrew’s SPNM shortlisted work
Ni Hon no Hu Kei in Poole and Exeter as part of the
SPNM’s artistic season 2004/2005.
In March 2005 Andrew was shortlisted
in the final of the Philip Bates Prize for Young

3 Meditations for solo piano have recently been
submitted by the British panel of the ISCM for possible
inclusion in the ISCM’s World Music Days 2006 in
Stuttgart.
During October 2005 Andrew’s work
received two premiere performances. The London
Contemporary Music Group performed Elegy (2004)
for ten players at St. Paul’s Covent Garden, London and
on the 28th the Bechstein Duo premiered
The Transcendant ‘I’ (2005) for flute and piano, in
London.
Andrew has
also collaborated with theatre directors in Cambridge
producing music for the stage, notably a largely
electronic score and soundtrack for a production of
Shakespeare’s Richard III, which was well
received by local critics. Other projects of interest
have included writing music for short animated films and
arranging pop classics for ensembles as varied as
barbershop quartets to large jazz ensembles.
